Forensic Engineering

We are not CSI, and so far have not managed to score a reality TV show, but when it comes to understanding what makes a building work (or not work) we are in our power zone. At Carney Engineering Group, our forensic work ranges from structural adequacy assessments of historic (or otherwise aged) structures, failure investigations, expert witness testimony, and even the garden variety “Is that crack in my wall something to worry about?”

While we enjoy designing and detailing buildings, our experience with multiple building types and structural systems means we can answer your “how, what and why” questions relating to your building. We enjoy the challenge of providing the answers about feasibility, building additions, explaining undesirable building shifting or movement, and getting to the bottom of any structural failures.

Our expertise includes a wide variety of forensic work:
  • Building Collapse
  • Structural Adequacy
  • Historical Structure Review
  • Failure Investigations
  • Expert Testimony
  • Serviceability
  • Wall cracks, and any other head scratching questions!
